A Faith that Works: Let's Do This!

Scripture: James 1: 17-27; Colossians 3:15-17; Ephesians 2:10

Talk. Talk. Talk. It's easy to talk about helping. It's easy to talk about loving. Let's get beyond the talk. Let's do this.

These pictures of faith in action are from the youth and G-3 mission trips from summer 2018.

Don't Miss This

Stewardship Sunday

The Stewardship committee would like to THANK YOU for your contributions of time, service, and finances to help our community of faith know and grow in Christ. Through your generosity, we can reach our community in meaningful and relevant ways as Jesus touches the world through us. We are grateful for the gifts God has planted in each of you and how we see you sharing those gifts through the ministries at Shady Grove. Thank you to all 134 individuals and families who have made a commitment to our operating fund and to participate in the life of this church in 2019.

If you have not turned in your commitment card for 2019, there is still time to do so. Our goal is to get a minimum of 225 commitments for our operating fund. Commitment cards can be dropped in the offering plate, mailed to the church office, or made through our Realm® software. Realm can also be used to review your giving history and make donations online. Your financial support helps us to plan accordingly for the year ahead and to meet the needs inside and outside Shady Grove. Learn more at www.shadygroveumc.net/stewardship2019.

It doesn't matter if you are young or young at heart, couple or single, new to SGUMC or seasoned veteran. We begin with a “Meet and Greet” kick-off in January for the entire group and end with a group picnic typically in May. In between, participants are placed in rotating groups of eight and gather once a month in homes from February to April. Questions? Contact Pam Thompson at 804-360-3162. 2018 Church Goals

A connected church, a serving church, a church where we grow together in Christ. This is the direction the Church Council, in dialogue with the ministry areas of the church, hears God calling all of us together as Shady Grove United Methodist Church to move toward in this ministry year. So, let's all join together in these church-wide goals.
  1. Getting connected: Our goal is to have 50% of our membership sign up with Realm. (Send a request today to realm@shadygroveumc.net)
  2. Serving inter-generationally: Here we build on a strength by embracing a congregation-wide mission effort through education and the joining of our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
  3. Growing together in Christ: Our goal is to increase the number of members participating in a small group at SGUMC by 20%. So, let's get connected; let's get serving; let's get growing together in Christ.
"God who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it." ~ Philippians 1:6
