"This Holy Family"

Scripture: Romans 8: 12-17
With our families, we can experience a wonderful gift of belonging. Sometimes we feel the pressure of family expectations. If it’s that way with our human family, what could it mean for us to be sons and daughters of God?

An Opportunity from Our Youth Ministry

Below is information on a webinar to share practical advice on how to recognize the risk of addiction even in younger children then implement strategies to lower that risk.

It Can Happen to You
When our children are young, they delight us in many ways as they navigate through childhood, play with their friends, join a sports team or enjoy their elementary school.  However, many of these children are already at high risk for addiction and statistics show that 90% of addicts develop the disease before they even leave high school.  Join Carolyn Bradfield on Wednesday, May 30 at 7:30 pm to hear her journey with her daughter Laura who unfortunately died from a drug overdose in December.

Carolyn Bradfield raised her daughter Laura in a great neighborhood with good schools, a strong community and positive friends. Laura was a girl scout, played soccer, had many friends and excelled in school. Then she went to high school. She connected with the wrong people, experimented with drugs, and became addicted. Her mother jumped into gear to help Laura and over the next 15 years, she sent Laura to wilderness therapy, therapeutic schools, rehab, intensive outpatient programs and transitional living. Laura struggled, had some periods of sobriety, but her life ended on December 21, 2017 from an overdose.

Carolyn is now dedicated to take her experiences and translate them into an educational program called The Laura Project. The program is designed to help parents and educators identify children at risk at a much earlier age and take steps to prevent or delay the onset of addiction. This webinar will detail her journey and give you practical tips on how you can adjust your strategy with your children to keep them safe and drug free.

Here is the information for the webinar.  They can just click the link and then ask the system to connect their audio.  Or if they aren’t in front of a computer (they will miss the slides), they can dial in on audio.
