SGUMC Youth Ministries
Weekly Update

Hello students and parents!

We have had a fun week or so - harvesting 2,000 pounds of tomatoes and planting 1,600 new collard green plants, making a full dinner and dessert, and prepping and packaging 9,072 meals! Most days, COVID is making it a hard life, but being together and sharing the love of God continues to make it a good life. So grateful for all of you in this weird, wild time.

Check out some pictures of our work at Shalom Farms and Rise Against Hunger over the past week. You will have to imagine all of our smiles behind the masks! Our youth did a great job of staying safe by wearing masks and physical distancing, even in the heat.

We have been meeting pretty faithfully via Zoom since the end of March/early April; thank you to all the youth who have showed up for games, highs and lows, and good conversations that have helped keep us connected virtually. We will take a hiatus from meeting on Zoom on Wednesdays and Sundays until school starts up again in September. However, we will continue to cook on Mondays!

We will meet in-person this Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 10:00 -10:45 am in the parking lot/drive way of the DOG House. Get details below! Also, SAVE THE DATE for dinner prep and distribution at The Doorways on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Thank you to all the individuals who continue to work hard everyday to keep us safe, provide health care, and ensure our basic needs are met by working in public spaces. Stay safe and love each other... from an appropriate distance!

With prayer and care,

Lauren Adkins
Director of Youth Ministry - SGUMC

Youth Small Group: IN-PERSON at the DOG House
Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 10:00-10:45 am

Let's get together to catch-up with friends, share highs and lows, and hear a short devotional. Walk over after drive-in worship or plan to come before going to in-person worship in the sanctuary!

The only reason someone will NOT be able to participate is if they have not completed their Health Form, are not wearing a mask, and can not remain 6 feet from others.

The only reason we will NOT meet as a group is if it is actively raining at 10:00 am on Sunday. IF it begins to rain while we are meeting, we will open the garage and spread out under cover until the rain passes.

Questions or concerns? Please reach out to me directly.

Fundraising with Scrip and Kroger Cards
  • Gift Cards - Remember the SGUMC Youth Ministry Gift Card program for all your shopping needs!  You can purchase gift cards at face value and the youth ministry receives a percentage of the sale.  Click here for an order form or go to United Scrip website to see the many additional cards that can be ordered.
  • Gift Card Sales - Without the support of volunteers to assist on Sunday mornings, we may not be able to operate each week which can drastically affect funding of our youth ministry. Funds from these sales helps to keep our costs as low as possible for our youth ministry events like retreats and mission trips.  Please click HERE to select your date.
  • Register your Kroger Plus card to benefit the Youth Ministry by clicking here for the steps to register.
