Congregational Care

Congregational Care... What we do and who we are… want to join us?

One of the joys of being involved with SGUMC is knowing that your church family is there in need. It is a blessed event when you can receive a delicious meal, a thoughtful card or a visit by a church member during a difficult time or a challenging event that sometimes overwhelms us. Your Congregational Care Committee does all these things and more! Our committee members are always available to receive news of our members who are experiencing grief from a death or illness or the joy of a new born. Need transportation to the doctor or an appointment, we’re there!  Feel the need to be included in the strong power of prayer, we do that as well. We hope that you will allow us to be a part of your spiritual life by notifying the church office of your situation or need and we will do everything possible to make the circumstance you are facing less stressful.

Our committee consists of the following areas of concern:

  • Card Ministry- sees that cards are sent on behalf of the church members when there is a birth, sickness, or death occurring with our members.
  • Meals Ministry- sees that dinners are prepared and delivery to church members who have been blessed with a baby.
  • Funeral Ministry- if needed coordinates food for the family or for the reception following the funeral.  If you would like to see our Suggested Reception Menu, please click HERE
  • Prayer Ministry- sees that church members are placed on the church prayer chain.  Contact Russ Mayes at 935-1969 to make your request for prayer chain recipients. We ask that you please have approval from the person or family that you are requesting prayers for before you consider contacting Russ.
  • Visitation Ministry- visits our shut ins and seniors and assist with the delivery of flowers after Sunday church services. Assist with transportation needs for church members.
