Weekday Preschool

Preschool Director, Leslie Rivenbark, with some of her students.

Letter from the Director

Dear Parents,

Thank you for considering Shady Grove UMC Preschool for your child.  We are proud of our program and hope you feel it will meet the needs of your preschooler.

We feel our first responsibility to your child is his/her social and emotional growth--learning to separate from a parent, working in large and small groups, sharing, following directions, working with adults as well as other children--grounded in a loving, Christian environment.  Additionally, our program is geared toward the development of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of activities.  While academic skills are important, children should not be pushed into learning at this young age.  Academic skills are introduced through games, stories, group times, and creative exploration as your child becomes developmentally ready.

The measure of our success is through your child.  Upon completion of the Shady Grove UMC Preschool program, your child will leave with positive feelings about himself/herself and learning.

I know this is an important decision you are making for your child.  If I can help by answering additional questions, don't hesitate to call (360-3533).

Most sincerely,

Leslie Rivenbark
Director of the Preschool
